Beginning with only 20 members, The Pennsylvania
Chapter of Trout Unlimited, was founded in 1963. In 1965, the name
was changed to Penn's Woods West. Today, it is the largest chapter
in the state and one of the largest in the country.
PWWTU is
constantly working to protect and improve trout waterways in our
area. We are presently engaged in a long-term project to make Pine
Creek in Pittsburgh's North Hills a blue ribbon trout fishery within
just a 30-minute drive from downtown!
We also sponsor Cabin Fever, the largest trout fishing show in
Western PA, offer an annual bus trip to Fisherman's Paradise in
Bellefonte, PA, conduct fly tying classes, participate in local
sports shows, underwrite sending high school students to various
conservation and fly fishing schools and publish a monthly
Hatches & Rises newsletter. Please bookmark this website and
visit often because there's always a lot going on.
The Board of Directors and Officers welcome your comments,
suggestions and ideas to make your chapter membership both rewarding
and enjoyable. Your involvement in chapter business and activities
is encouraged and we hope you'll be able to volunteer your talent
and a little of your time to help the Chapter continue to be one of
the most exciting, hard working and fun chapters in the country. |
